The City of White Salmon is continuing efforts to restore full service to the Strawberry Mountain Pressure Zone following the previously reported pump failure at Los Altos Reservoir.
A newly manufactured replacement pump impeller was installed as scoped; however, it is not yet delivering the water pressure levels necessary to fully stabilize the system. Technicians are actively troubleshooting the issue, and we are also working with our partners to evaluate backup approaches should the pump ultimately prove defective.
While we are hopeful this issue will be resolved without delay, we must extend the current Stage 3 water conservation measures to protect reservoir levels and ensure consistent water delivery for all users. We understand the inconvenience this causes and appreciate the community’s continued cooperation.
It’s important to note that the City is not responsible for the manufacturing discrepancy and remains committed to ensuring that any final repair meets our engineering standards and operational requirements. Our priority is not just a fast fix, but a durable one that serves residents reliably in both day-to-day use and emergency conditions.
As soon as we have more information on next steps or resolution timelines, we will share it with the community. We encourage residents to continue checking www.whitesalmonwa.gov for updates and to contact Public Works Director Andrew Dirks at (509) 281-4093 with any questions.
Thank you for your understanding, patience, and partnership as we work toward full restoration.
