White Salmon, WA — Construction is set to begin the week of July 28 on critical water infrastructure upgrades along Spring Street and North Main Avenue. This work marks the start of the North Main Booster Pump Station Project, a major investment in White Salmon’s water system designed to improve both everyday water service and emergency fire flow capacity for residents in the North Main/Simmons Road pressure zone. The project is being funded by a $2,406,034.44Public Works Board Loan as well as $177,500 in ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) funding that was allocated by City Council.
This project addresses a long-standing deficiency in reservoir storage capacity that limits reliable water supply and fire protection in parts of the city. The new booster pump station will restore and improve service to this zone by connecting it to the Spring Street Reservoir, which has sufficient capacity to meet current and future needs.
What to Expect During Construction:
The work will occur primarily within the Spring Street right-of-way, extending from the easternmost city limits to the intersection of Hillside Lane and NW Spring Street. Initial work will be focused on the Stage 5 area as illustrated in the map, in the vicinity of NE Spring Street & NE Tillotson Drive. The public should expect traffic impacts and potential detours in the construction area, especially as work moves westward. A detour map is included in this release and will be available online at whitesalmonwa.gov
Project Scope Includes:
The City has selected Ajax NW as the contractor for the project following a competitive bid process. This upgrade is essential to ensuring that all areas of White Salmon have safe, reliable water service, and it supports the city’s commitment to modernizing aging infrastructure.
We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation during this important construction effort.
