A quick reminder from the Cities of White Salmon and Bingen: wipes labeled “flushable” don’t actually break down the way toilet paper does.
When flushed, these wipes tend to bind together as they move through the sewer system. Over time, they can clog pipes and damage critical wastewater infrastructure. We’ve seen an increase in these issues recently, and preventing them requires everyone’s help.
To protect the system that serves our entire community, and avoid costly repairs, please throw wipes in the trash instead of the toilet.
If you have any questions or concerns about the project, please contact Chris True, Public Works Director for the City of White Salmon, at christ@whitesalmonwa.gov or (509) 493-1133, ext. 500.
