Description of Proposal: The City of White Salmon has prepared draft Shoreline Master Program (SMP) amendments to keep the SMP current with changes in state law, changes in other City plans and regulations, and other changed local circumstances.

 


The City of White Salmon and the Washington Department of Ecology are accepting comments on a periodic review of the White Salmon Shoreline Master Program (SMP) under RCW 90.58.080(4). 

The City of White Salmon has prepared the draft SMP amendments to keep the SMP current with changes in state law, changes in other City plans and regulations, and other changed local circumstances.  Proposed amendments to the City’s SMP are available in the supporting documents as well as in Planning Studies and Master Plans. A paper copy will be available for viewing at the City Hall's office at 100 N Main Street (see new office hours).

White Salmon has determined that this proposal does not have a probable significant adverse impact on the environment.  An environmental impact statement is not required under the State Environmental Policy Act, RCW 43.21C.030(2)(c).  This determination of nonsignificance (DNS) was made after review of a completed environmental checklist and other information on file with the lead agency and available upon request.

This determination is issued pursuant to WAC 197-11-340(2). White Salmon will not act on this proposal for 14 calendar days from the date of issuance.  The SEPA comment and appeal period runs from March 16th, 2023 to April 19th, 2023.

A separate public notice for the public hearing will be mailed to all local agencies and published in the Columbia Gorge Newspaper.

Any person desiring to express his or her views or to be notified of the action taken on this non-project regarding the SEPA application should notify the City of White Salmon in writing of his or her interest by 5:00 pm on April 12, 2023.

 


Public Hearing

A joint local-state public hearing, with a virtual/telephonic attendance option, will be held during the Planning Commission meeting on Wednesday, April 12th, at 5:30 PM or as soon thereafter as possible. The hearing will be located in the City Council Chambers, 119 NE Church.
