Dry Brush and Yard Care

As summer conditions continue, the City encourages residents and property owners to take a few minutes to look around homes, businesses, yards, and vacant properties for dry vegetation and other combustible materials.

Routine property maintenance can reduce fire risk, improve visibility, and help keep neighborhoods safer throughout the dry season.

Helpful steps include:

• Mow tall grass and weeds before they become dry and overgrown.
• Prune bushes, shrubs, and low-hanging tree branches.
• Remove dead or dry vegetation from around structures, fences, decks, and walkways.
• Clear leaves, needles, and other debris from roofs, gutters, and areas next to buildings.
• Reduce or properly store piles of brush, firewood, lumber, building materials, and other combustible items.
• Keep sidewalks, streets, alleys, fire hydrants, and access routes clear of vegetation.
• Check areas under decks, stairs, porches, and outdoor storage spaces where dry material may collect.
• Dispose of yard debris and other materials responsibly.

**Do not burn yard debris during the burn ban.**

Small maintenance projects completed now can prevent larger concerns later in the season.
