City Issues Emergency Proclamation 2025-03 for Additional Restrictions During Extreme Heat and Elevated Wildfire Risk

The City of White Salmon has issued Emergency Proclamation 2025-03 declaring a state of emergency in extreme heat and elevated wildfire risk.

The City, in coordination with the West Klickitat Regional Fire Authority, is implementing additional fire safety measures during this period of extreme heat and elevated wildfire danger. These steps build on the existing countywide burn ban and are intended to reduce activities that could unintentionally spark a wildfire during the most dangerous part of our fire season.

As part of these measures, certain high-risk activities are being paused, including the use of the outdoor shooting range within City limits. The range may reopen sooner if approved fire safety measures are in place and verified by WKRFA.

This is not about restricting lawful firearm use—it’s about reducing ignition risks under extreme seasonal conditions. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping protect our community, homes, and firefighters until fire danger levels drop.
