City Issues Emergency Proclamation 2025-02 for Burdoin Fire

The City of White Salmon has issued Emergency Proclamation 2025-02 declaring a state of emergency in response to the Burdoin Fire, which is actively burning near the city and poses a significant threat to life, property, and critical infrastructure.

The emergency declaration, signed by Mayor Marla Keethler, authorizes the City to take expedited action to protect public health and safety. This includes activating the City’s emergency operations plan, mobilizing necessary resources, requesting mutual aid or state and federal assistance, and waiving certain competitive bidding requirements under Washington State law to facilitate rapid response.

The proclamation is effective immediately and will remain in place until the emergency has been abated and formally terminated. Residents are encouraged to monitor official city channels for updates and additional guidance as conditions evolve.
